A Nice, Large watch September 5, 2010 Skunkworks (USA) It is a nice looking digital watch. I have never found that the sensors worked very well on any watch in the Pathfinder series. I just happen to like the way the watch looks. The black, white and red complements make the watch look cool. The LCD is large and very easy to read. The light button is easy to access. And, like other reviews have stated, the indiglo does not stay illuminated for long enough. Though enough to read the time.
Overall, I bought this watch because the price was right compared with other Pathfinders and I really like the case coloring. I am very happy with this watch and would not use it to take accurate readings of anything except the time and date. This doesn't cost much more than a timex or g-shock but I think will stand out above the others on a trail. Had this watch on yesterday while hiking the Ice Caves in the 'Gunks' and it worked just fine.
Huge and Inaccurate September 2, 2010 Thompson C. Ritchie (nyc) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this watch during an 8-day camping trip in the Chatahoochie National Forest in Georgia.
Problem 1: The watch was inaccurate in temperature (+/- 10 degrees F), altitude (+/- 100 feet) and compass bearing (+/- 20 degrees). The humidity in Georgia could have been causing the temperature and altitude problems, and the compass is very sensitive to nearby metal and electronics. These watch functions were almost useless during my trip.
Problem 2: This watch is huge and uncomfortable. Some people like big watches, but I don't really love them. This watch isn't too heavy, but the plastic band made my arm sweat and get heat rash after about 2 days.
Problem 3: The indiglo on this watch works for 1 second only. Holding the button down longer or pressing it repeatedly does nothing. This means you cannot really use the compass at night (if it worked properly to begin with), or even look at all of the information on any given screen before the light goes out.
I upgraded to a simple g-shock with a count-down timer and longer indiglo, but without the barometer, compass, etc. I'm happy with the additional watch features, and don't miss the useless features at all.
WOW! August 7, 2010 g-shock junkie (westchester, ny) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is my first pathfinder and i'm glad i bought it! I'm more of an g-shock type of guy, but this watch had a compass on it and the price was damm good......so why not! Plus it's made by Casio. The best digital watch maker on the planet. It feels nice on the wrist too, even though the watch is fairly big but it is very comfortable. Going to buy a few more of these models for my collection.
Great Deal!! August 3, 2010 Paul 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great watch! Don't hesitate if you are looking for a triple sensor type of watch. It is a big watch but most of this type are. I've had a Suunto Vector for 16+ years and it finally wore out and started to leak water so I was looking to buy a new on and took a chance on this watch. Initial impression is excellent! It seems to be every bit as good as the Suunto and it is user friendly...figured out all functions almost immediately (very similar to the Suunto Vector). Looks great, great price, user friendly...hopefully it will last as long as my Suunto! Also, Amazon was excellent! It shipped immediatly and I was at my house in just two days and I live in north western Montana!!
